Hockey participation in Luton is on the rise as more people are joining clubs, playing in leagues and organising casual games. What makes hockey so popular is the fact it can be played on various types of surfaces, such as indoor, artificial, 2G astroturf and more. The pitches are equipped with floodlights, changing rooms, parking areas, pay as you play facilities, etc. To play the sport you will need a hockey stick and these can vary in price, we recommend whatever feels comfortable to you. As well as a stick you’ll need astroturf-suitable shoes, shin pads, a gum shield and a hockey glove. Hockey is perfect for fitness as it is a high-intensity sport that has many cardiovascular benefits.
Stockwood Park Academy Stockwood Park Academy has an excellent full sized hockey pitch. Based in Luton, Stockwood Park Academy has an indoor pitch that is suitable for tournaments and leagues or as an individual booking for training. Clearly another plus is the fact it is an indoors, thus allowing you to play all year round.
Chalk Hills Academy The 3G astroturf pitch at Chalk Hills Academy is well taken care of, keeping it in perfect condition throughout the year. Along with floodlights and changing rooms, coupled with parking available at the site, Chalk Hills Academy is an ideal place to play Hockey.
Challney High School for Girls features an outdoor concrete surface to play Hockey on. Although often not played on concrete, it still makes for an enjoyable way to play the sport. The facility also has a shower and changing rooms onsite that can be used by all players.
