Football is popular across the city, but particularly in this borough and that is reflected in the sheer number of football facilities available for booking. There are 5-a-side, 7-a-side and 11-a-side football pitches available for hire in Barking and Dagenham. If basketball is your preferred sport, then you have a wide range of courts to book as you do with netball and tennis. Squash is another sport that can be booked in the area and there are some great courts attached to gyms. There are some cracking golf courses in this part of London that are readily available for hire. Swimming is an excellent way to keep fit throughout the year and there are both indoor and outdoor facilities for hire. In the summer there are cricket nets and pitches in Barking and Dagenham for hire to make sure you’re ready for the season.

Barking Sporthouse

Barking Sporthouse is situated close to Upney Station on the Overground and is open between 6.30am and 10pm during the week and then 8am to 5pm during weekends. There are four indoor five-a-side football pitches for hire as well as a cracking indoor netball court to allow for play throughout the year. Visitors should expect to pay £60 per hour to hire the football and netball spaces. There is also a gym onsite that can also be booked online. Barking Sporthouse has changing rooms on the premise and there is also free parking available.

Mayesbrook Park

Mayesbrook Park is based on Lodge Avenue and on the corner of Marlborough Road. It is home to a number of cracking sports facilities which includes football, tennis, athletics, cricket and a gym. Football lovers can enjoy games on a full size astroturf pitch, but it’s worth noting that there are no floodlights. The athletics track is an artificial surface meaning it can be used all through the year. It has a 400m track, hammer, discus and long-jump all available for hire. A grass cricket pitch is also available for booking while there are macadam tennis courts here too. For anyone travelling here by public transport the best tube station is Becontree.
