Manchester is home to many of the best cricket pitches and nets in the north west of England. This part of the country has had a long association with cricket following the successes of Lancashire cricket team and the grassroots scene is thriving on the back of it. Most of the cricket pitches in Manchester are grass, but a few of the clubs have installed astroturf wickets to counter the poor weather that often plagues the sport. Cricket nets are available at some of Manchester’s cricket venues for those players wishing to get back in the groove after the traditional winter break.
