Famous Sporting Couples

Valentines day is around the corner and here at Playfinder we’re taking a look at some famous athletes who have found love through playing sport.
Caroline Wozniacki and Rory McIlroy (broken up)
McIlroy (golf) and Wozniacki (tennis) both reached world number 1 in their respective sports during their time together. The couple were together for 3 years after meeting at a boxing match, but called time on their relationship following a short engagement. Wozniacki has now found herself another sporting partner, recently becoming engaged to NBA basketball player David Lee.
Steffi Graf and Andre Agassi (married)
Perhaps the most famous and successful relationship of this type, Steffi Graf and Andre Agassi (both tennis players). Agassi has a mere 8 Grand Slam titles in comparison to Grafs 22. In the early stages of the his career Agassi dated other celebrities such as Barbra Streisand but met Graf during the twilight of his career. The pair married in 2001 and have remained together ever since. The couple have two children together.
Kate Richardson-Walsh and Helen Richardson-Walsh (married)
Kate and Helen Richardson-Walsh play hockey for the English national team and have represented Great Britain at the Olympic games, winning bronze at London 2012 and gold at the 2016 Olympics in Rio. The pair met playing hockey during their teen years, announcing their relationship in 2008, before finally deciding to wed three years later.
Ana Ivanovic and Bastien Schweinsteiger (married)
After marrying in 2016, Ivanovic (tennis) and Schweinsteiger (football) announced that they’re expecting their first child in November 2017. Ivanonic reached world number 1 in 2008, winning the French Open, before retiring in 2016 after a string of injuries. Schweinsteiger, formally of Bayern Munich and Manchester United, most notably won the World Cup in 2014 with Germany.
Maria Sharapova and Grigor Dimitrov (broken up)
The two tennis players became an item in 2012, and dated until 2015 before parting to focus on their careers. Sharapova has won 5 Grand Slams throughout her career. While Dimitrov is yet to win a Grand Slam he was victorious at the ATP World Tour Finals in 2017 and is tipped for great things in the future.
Laura Trott (Kenny) and Jason Kenny (married)
The couple met in 2010 where there was no initial attraction. However this was to change as the they were seen kissing during the 2012 Olympic games, and their relationship was confirmed. The British cyclist were later married in 2017 and their first child soon followed. The pair have an amazing 10 Olympic Gold medals.
