Best ways to keep fit during the winter

Just because the nights are drawing in, it doesn’t mean your plans to keep fit during the winter need to go into hibernation. Temperatures might be dropping, but there are still plenty of ways to stay fit as we build to Christmas. Each are far more fun than a standard trip to your gym and less expensive!

Here at Playfinder we have listed a few activities which have the perfect balance of social, fitness and fun.

Soulcycle – 1Rebel

1Rebel is a high intensity, dual studio fitness initiative based in the City. It provides a hard-core fitness session against a backdrop of bespoke music to drive you on. Spinning or Reshape are the two variations. High-tech C5 are your equipment for spinning and Reshape involves sprinting and treadmill running, followed by weights and bench exercises.

Squash

Squash is a fast-paced indoor sport that works upper body, explosiveness, endurance, and core. During an hour game you will burn around 1,000 calories, whereas in football you burn 862 in the same time. BoulderingVauxhall

Indoor bouldering is rock climbing without the ropes or harnesses and all abilities are welcome to join in. Special shoes are required for the activity and the routes constantly throw up fun problems to solve. Badminton – Finsbury Leisure Centre

Badminton is an awesome racquet sport that offers a tremendous amount of benefits for participants. Whether it’s in singles or doubles, badminton is a fun and exciting sport to pick up if you’re looking for an activity that boosts your physical and mental health.  You’ll need at least one opponent, but you can also play with a teammate and two other opponents. It’s a great way to meet people and keep fit.

Dancing – Ballroom / Disco

Strictly Come Dancing fever has reached unprecedented levels and is affecting the nation at every level. Dancing is a fantastic way to keep trim, maintain strong bones, improve posture and muscle strength, increase balance and co-ordination and beat stress.
