After the government’s most recent announcement on the easing of lockdown, we have seen more and more tennis venues re-open to the public.
For so many of us in these last two months, there has been a sport shaped hole in our daily lives and keeping ourselves fit and healthy has been a challenge in itself, under these unprecedented circumstances.
The LTA have released guidelines for tennis players and venues on how to ensure compliance with social distancing measures during play and being able to safely step on to the courts. These guidelines are available here.
So with longer days and the summer heat knocking at the door, we’ve put together a list of our Top 5 free tennis venues where you can enjoy a friendly set or two this in the coming days.
Our Top 5 free Tennis courts
Tanner Street Park – London
This park offers four hard tennis courts free to use by the pubic, situated in Bermondsey just a 10-minute walk from London Bridge station. There is currently no booking system, so just turn up and play! Click here for further details.
Haynes Park – Romford
Situated in the heart of Romford, Haynes Park offers to two high-quality hard tennis courts open freely the public. The park is a short walk from Romford train station and there is free parking on site. Click here for further details.
Cross Flatts Park – Leeds
As well as, football pitches and basketball courts, Cross Flatts Park offers three hard tennis freely available to use on the south side of Leeds with free parking just 200 yards from the courts. Click here for further details.
Southwark Park – London
A tennis match with a view? This park is located just a stone’s throw away from the Thames in Southwark. The park offers four Hard surface courts. It has changing rooms, free parking and the nearest London underground is Bermondsey. Click here for further details.
