The borough of Tower Hamlets is in the east of London and has lots of football pitches for hire that cover 5-a-side, 7-a-side and 11-a-side formats. Each of these formats is played on varying surfaces that range from sand-based astro-turf, 3G and grass. The Reebok Sports Club is a smart facility based a short distance from Canary Wharf tube stop on Canada Square. Members can hire the indoor five-a-side pitch, or use the same space as a netball court. The sports hall allows visitors to also use the space as a badminton or basketball court, but prices vary. There is also a 25m swimming pool onsite for members. The Reebok Sports Club has changing rooms and pay-and-display parking.

Tower Hamlets Borough Council – Sports and Leisure

Tower Hamlet’s sports & physical activity team supports the sports community in and around the borough. The team works hard to deliver a large number of regional and national programmes such as For the girls, by the girls, Motivate East, Doorstep Clubs and Active People, Active Park to highlight just a few of them. In total there are seven leisure centres in the borough, managed by Better. The council stresses the importance of giving access to sport for everyone. There are specific directives that include everyone and disability specific activities run in and around the borough. Tower Hamlet council’s site is kept up-to-date with all the news and updates on sport and physical activity in the borough.

Tower Hamlets Youth Sport Foundation

Tower Hamlets Youth Sport Foundation delivers outstanding opportunities and support for the youth in the local borough to help them reach their potential, realise their ambitions and develop personally through sport.

Between 2004 and 2011 THYSF was run as the Tower Hamlets School Sports Partnership with a focus on growing the amount and quality of school sport across local schools. In 2011 the Government withdrew funding but with the support of those schools, the London Borough of Tower Hamlets and a selection of corporate partners, THYSF evolved to focus on all sport, physical activity and health for 4-19 year olds in Tower Hamlets.
